RELEASE For more information contact: New Master Blockmakers The number of Master Blockmakers continues to increase as more Blockmaker Workshops® are completed at Alpena Community College in Alpena, Michigan. Daniel Schwefel is the second employee of Bend Industries in West Bend, Wisconsin to become a Master Blockmaker. In February 1999, he completed the Electronic Controls course. Jesús Eloy González is the first employee from Servicio Tenico, S.A. of the Dominican Republic to complete the requirements set forth by the Master Blockmaker program. Eloy attended the Electronic Controls course in February 1999. Loris Crawford of Western Concrete Products in Cadillac, Michigan also attended the Electronic Controls course in February 1999. Loris is the first employee from Western Concrete Products to become a Master Blockmaker. Donald Hill of Fischer Lime and Cement Products in Jackson, Tennessee is the 51st person to achieve Master Blockmaker status. Don may be the trend setter for his company as he is the first person from Fischer Lime and Cement to earn this prestigious title. Blockmakers Workshops® originated in 1954 to assist in developing qualified professionals in the concrete products industry. The workshops are a joint partnership between Alpena Community College and Besser Company of Alpena, Michigan. A Master Blockmaker is someone who has successfully completed five predetermined courses that prepare the individual in the efficient and effective production of quality concrete products.
