RELEASE For more information contact: Defining the Focus at Besser Company Jim Park, Besser Company chairman, announced several organizational changes within Besser Company and the formation of a Besser Alpena division as approved by the Besser Board of Directors. Kevin Curtis was appointed president of Besser Company. Kevin will lead the efforts to build on the strengths of and unify the activities of the Besser divisions located throughout North America. Besser Alpena sales and marketing staff will continue to report to Kevin. James Arbuckle has assumed responsibility for all corporate finances, as corporate chief financial officer and vice chairman. Among his responsibilities will be the growth of Besser Company through strategic mergers and company alliances. Jeffrey Wallace was appointed vice president of marketing. Among his primary responsibilities are global sales performance and support of and participation in the activities of the National Concrete Masonry Association. Jeff began with Besser in 1984 as a sales management trainee and was promoted to marketing manager the following year. Since then he has been the North American sales manager and director of sales and marketing. Heidi Francis-Rodriguez, district manager for China, has expanded her duties to include those of international sales manager. This new capacity will allow her to work primarily with customers and the sales staff outside of the United States. Heidi began her career with Besser in 1995 as an international sales specialist supporting the sales force in Europe and Asia. Terri Rondeau accepted the role of director, corporate communications. The major responsibility of this new position is to effectively and consistently promote the product lines and services of the entire Family of Companies through the full range of communication vehicles. Thirteen years ago Terri began her Besser career as the assistant advertising manager. Cindy Limback has been elevated to marketing and communications manager. She will develop promotional materials that educate the marketplace on the benefits of using products and services from the Besser Family of Companies. Cindy came to Besser five years ago and began her career as the assistant advertising manager. Besser Alpena Division Created The newly created Besser Alpena division, the largest division, will complement the seven Besser manufacturing sites. Besser Alpena will be led by Michael Kelly who was named president. "The goal of Besser Alpena as a division is to improve our responsiveness to customers around the world. The business focus of Besser Alpena will not change; our resources will be geared toward maximizing product quality and productivity for the machinery and parts manufactured here," affirmed Michael. New Responsibilities for Besser Alpena Staff Michael Kelly announced several promotions. The changes in responsibility will enable Besser Alpena to focus efforts on improving customer service and making Besser machinery more competitive in the marketplace. Jim Krueger is the newly appointed procurement and quality systems manager. In his new capacity, Jim has direct involvement with a major component of the quality system - items from outside vendors. His experience at Besser includes a storeroom supervisor, purchasing agent, manager of quality systems and quality / customer service manager. Detlef Hamer has been promoted to production planning and inventory manager. His new position includes increased responsibility for the Alpena master production schedule and inventory management. With a career beginning in 1987, Detlef has extensive knowledge in the areas of sales analysis and forecasting. Stanley Mazany has accepted the position of controller of Besser Alpena. Stan will lead all Alpena division finance and accounting activities. Stan joined Besser Company in 1972 and has a wealth of experience in many areas including internal auditing, material control and treasury. |
