information contact: Master Blockmaker™ Certifications Earned The number of Master Blockmakers continues to increase as more Blockmaker Workshops® are completed at the World Center for Concrete Technology in Alpena, Michigan.
Brian Copeland of Featherlite Building Products in Port Neches, Texas is the first person from his company to become a Master Blockmaker. Another first, Robert Darby from Theut Products in Romeo, Michigan earned Master Blockmaker certification. Pictured left to right: Besser Company chairman Jim Park, Steve Parent, Robert Darby, Steven Kramer, John Hadley, Brian Copeland, and the president of Alpena Community College, Don Newport. Also recognized as a Master Blockmaker is John Hadley of Florida Rock Industries in Gainesville, Florida. John is the second person from Florida Rock to earn this certification. From Tarmac America in Pompano Beach, Florida, Steve Kramer earned Master Blockmaker certification. Steve is the sixth person from Tarmac to earn this prestigious title. Also earning Master Blockmaker certification in the Electronic Controls Workshop was Steve Parent from Fendt Builders Supply in Farmington Hills, Michigan. As the first person from Fendt to become a Master Blockmaker, Steve is the trendsetter for his company.
Blockmakers Workshops originated in 1954 to assist in developing qualified professionals in the concrete products industry. The workshops are a joint partnership between the new World Center for Concrete Technology, Alpena Community College and Besser Company. All Master Blockmakers have successfully completed five predetermined courses that prepare each individual in the efficient and effective production of quality concrete products.
