The number of Master Blockmakers continues to increase as more Blockmakers Workshops® are completed in Alpena, Michigan. Randy Duncan of Atlas Block Company achieved Master Blockmaker certification in June 2000 after attending the Equipment Controls course at the new World Center for Concrete Technology in Alpena, Michigan. Randy is the fifth person at Atlas Block Company to become a Master Blockmaker. Edwin Rodriguez from Tarmac of Richmond also became a Master Blockmaker while attending the June 2000 Equipment Controls course. Edwin is the second person from Tarmac of Richmond to achieve Master Blockmaker certification. Michael Thrasher of Rogers Block and Wall also became a Master Blockmaker while attending the June 2000 Equipment Controls course held at the new World Center for Concrete Technology. Michael is the first Master Blockmaker from Rogers Block and Wall.
Blockmakers Workshops originated in 1954 to assist in developing qualified professionals in the concrete products industry. The workshops are a joint partnership between the new World Center for Concrete Technology, Alpena Community College and the Besser Family of Companies. All Master Blockmakers have successfully completed five predetermined courses that prepare each individual in the efficient and effective production of quality concrete products.
